Joely A. Witherspoon, LCSW, CTP, SIFI, CSSW
Joely Witherspoon is an adjunct professor in the School of Criminal and Social Justice at Monroe University as well as a full-time school social worker at Bronx Charter School for the Arts located in the Soundview section of the Bronx.
Joely received her Undergraduate degree from SUNY at Albany in Sociology with a minor in Psychology. She continued her education at Fordham University where she received her Masters degree in Social Work and was inducted into the Phi Alpha Honor Society in the Spring of 2018. She has 6 years of professional experience working in the field of social work.
Joely started working for Open Door Family Medical Center as a Behavioral Health Integration Specialist (BHIS) assessing patients for mental health conditions and referring for services needed. Here she gained experience working with doctors and families providing mental health services and assessing the needs of families.
She then began working in community mental health for the Guidance Center of Westchester, where she provided psychotherapy services to individuals within the community. Here Joely gained experience working with individuals, groups, families, individuals suffering from substance abuse issues, and much more.
Joely was given the opportunity to work with middle schoolers at Mott Hall Charter School in November of 2020 and moved onto Bronx Charter School for the Arts in August of 2021. She provides at-risk scholars with resources to assist them with receiving the help they need to grow into independent confident humans capable of making emotionally intelligent choices.
Joely obtained her clinical licensure as a social worker in 2021 and is in the process of collaborating with local organizations such as Three Token Black Girls to provide affordable mental health services to families in need. She also collaborates with Guns Down Lives Up and No Voice Unheard to bring awareness to gun violence and substance abuse to our youth at Bronx Charter School for the Arts.
